There are people who are really adept at these new practices of watching releases, for free, on porn sites. People started sharing for fun, but in the opinion of some it is something extremely useful.
For example, last year a whole series of blockbusters ended up on the well-known Xhamster porn site and other similar sites, eventually rivaling not only physical theaters, but also platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix . The ease that a user has in being able to upload videos on these platforms ends up being a great incentive. People who use porn platforms just want to keep watching quality movies and admit that sometimes it helps when they have a bad internet connection at home so they can’t download the movies. Although some people regret it because they don’t consume porn and end up finding something problematic because they realize they are helping the porn site.
In times of pandemic there was even a known Brazilian youtuber, Felipe Castanhari who generated commotion by encouraging his followers to upload videos produced by him on Xvideos – one of the largest streaming porn sites in the world and the most accessed in Brazil. The videos published on “Canal Nostalgia” are not pornographic. He admitted it was a temporary solution to enable people to continue watching his content, which was overturned by YouTube for copyright infringement.
Even with big companies trying to compete with the speed of the Internet in controlling copyright and avoiding piracy, there is no immediate solution, because first they put it on a porn site, knock it down, then send it to the deep web. Some people point out that it’s funny to upload on these sites and this ends up generating a viral effect, attracting public and even a spread of a conversation about it.
