The EU RoHs directive

The EU RoHs directive has been transposed into law in the UK and Ireland with effect from 1 July 2006. The directive sets out certain restrictions on which substances electronic and electrical equipment may contain, and makes it illegal to put on the market products that do not comply with the directive.

The directive is addressed to the manufacturers of the products, and WStore has for some time been working with its suppliers to enable us only to sell products after 1 July 2006 that we can legally resell. The directive allows WStore as a reseller to sell non-compliant products after 1 July, provided the products have been put on the market by the manufacturer prior to that date.

We have used reasonable efforts to ensure that we and our suppliers comply with the directive, however, due to the diversity of the products and the lack of common approach by some of our manufacturers, we are not able to ensure that all products we deliver to you after 1 July will be fully compliant with the substance ban set forth in the directive.

When placing an order with WStore after 1 July 2006 you should generally expect that the products will be compliant, but WStore does not guarantee that this is the case as the products may have been put on the market prior to the effective date. WStore disclaims any liability with respect to its suppliers’ non-compliance with the RoHs directive.

In case you need information about specific products and their conformity with the RoHs directive, you should contact your account manager or another member of WStore staff, who will request specific information from the manufacturer involved.
